COLOURS&VALEUS – 12+ positions of the Women Painters Network
Das MalerinnenNetzWerk Berlin–Leipzig (MNW) ist ein Zusammenschluss von Künstlerinnen aus Berlin und Leipzig. Es versteht sich als Plattform für zeitgenössische Malerei mit dem Ziel, die Sichtbarkeit von Künstlerinnen durch gemeinsame Ausstellungen zu erhöhen sowie Austausch und Vernetzung zu fördern. Seit 2015 präsentieren die Künstlerinnen des MNW ihre Arbeiten in wechselnden Konstellationen in Galerien, Museen und Kunsträumen. Darüber hinaus organisieren sie Atelierbesuche, Künstlerinnengespräche und gemeinsame Publikationen.
Bereits 2019 widmete sich die Kunsthalle Erfurt mit der Ausstellung „bauhausFrauen“ ausschließlich Künstlerinnen. Mit „COLOURS & VALUES“ richtet sie ihren Blick nun erneut auf weibliche Kunstschaffende.
COLOURS & VALUES ist eine thematisch offene Ausstellung, die aktuelle Positionen und unterschiedliche Ansätze innerhalb des klassischen Mediums Malerei präsentiert und zugleich neue Entwicklungen sowie medienimmanente Fragestellungen sichtbar macht. Darauf verweist auch der Titel, der sowohl auf Farbe als materielles und physikalisches Phänomen als auch auf Tonwerte (französisch: valeurs) Bezug nimmt.
Zwölf Künstlerinnen des Netzwerks zeigen hier ihre Arbeiten. Da die Malerei zwar das verbindende, jedoch nicht das ausschließliche Medium der Gruppe ist und das MNW offen für experimentelle Konzepte bleibt, umfasst die Ausstellung neben zeitgenössischer Malerei auch installative und grafische Arbeiten.
Darüber hinaus lädt das MNW regelmäßig Gastkünstlerinnen und Kuratorinnen zur Zusammenarbeit ein. Im Rahmen der Ausstellung erhalten daher drei Künstlerinnen aus Thüringen die Möglichkeit, ihre Werke nacheinander zu präsentieren. Förderer

COLOURS&VALEUS – 12+ positions of the Women Painters Network
The Painters’ Network (MNW) is an association of female artists from Berlin and Leipzig. It sees itself as a platform for contemporary painting with the aim of increasing the visibility of female artists through joint exhibitions and promoting exchange and networking. Since 2015, the artists of the MNW have presented their work in varying constellations at art galleries, museums, and art spaces. They also organize studio visits, artist talks, and joint publications. Back in 2019, the Kunsthalle Erfurt focused exclusively on female artists with its exhibition “bauhausFrauen” (bauhaus Women ). With “COLOURS & VALUES,” it once again turns its attention to female artists. COLOURS & VALUES is a thematically open exhibition that showcases current positions and different approaches within the classical medium of painting, while also revealing new trends and media-specific questions – this is underscored once again by the title, which refers to both color as a material and physical phenomenon as well as tonal values (French: valeurs). Twelve female artists from the network are presenting their work here. Since painting is the group’s unifying but not exclusive medium, and the MNW is open to experimental concepts, the exhibition includes installation and graphic works in addition to contemporary paintings. Furthermore, the MNW regularly invites guest artists and curators. As part of the exhibition, three female artists from Thuringia will therefore have the opportunity to present their works in succession.
